Disaster Financial Assistance With Food and Housing

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers Disaster Financial Assistance to individuals and households affected by a disaster.
The program is designed to meet critical needs resulting from a natural disaster, such as temporary housing or food and shelter.
Red Cross employees do not ask about citizenship or immigration status, so they should not be confused with government officials.
However, they will ask for identification and proof of identity if necessary.
While this assistance is available, it is important to understand that it cannot be used to replace damaged property.
When disaster assistance is available, it may include home repair and mitigation measures to prevent further damage to your property.
The government will provide funds to repair damaged roofs, water heaters, furnaces, main electrical panels, and other systems.
If the disaster has destroyed your entire home, it may be possible to replace it with a new one.
To make sure your home is still structurally sound, contact your local FEMA office for more information about available programs and applications.
